Moduel · Sweden

We redesigned the most ignored object in your home.

The power strip has barely changed in fifty years. Bulky, always the wrong length, always the wrong number of outlets, always hidden behind the sofa. We took it apart and built it again — as a system of small modules that click together, in whatever shape your room actually needs.

Why we started

Power is the last thing anyone designs

Every other object in a modern home has been rethought. Lighting, heating, sound, the things people look at every day. Power got left behind — a hard plastic block with a fixed number of holes, a cord that is either too short or coiled uselessly under a desk, and a tangle behind it that nobody wants to look at.

It is not a small problem. It is in every room, in every home, and everyone has quietly accepted it.

What we made

A connector small enough to build with

The whole system rests on one part: the world's smallest 16A 250V connector with earth and a protective shutter. Small enough that a power module can be the size of the socket itself — which is what makes everything else possible.

Cords, outlets, USB modules, smart control. Click them together in any order, add to the chain whenever something changes, mount it on a wall or leave it on the floor.

Modular

Every piece connects to every other piece. Build the exact shape the room needs, then change it later.

Certified and patented

EU and Schuko certified, halogen-free materials, and a connector design protected in seven countries.

Smart when you want it

Matter-compatible, so it works with Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa. No hub and no single-brand app.

The proof

IKEA sold 1.2 million of them

Before Moduel was a brand, it was a product on IKEA's shelves. We designed and manufactured the ÅSKVÄDER range, and IKEA sold it across the Nordics for two and a half years — with no marketing behind it at all. People found it, bought it, and came back for more modules.

How we got here

From a Swedish workshop to your wall

Moduel AB is a Swedish company. We design here, we hold the patents, and we work with a long-standing manufacturing partner in Ningbo, China, to build to our specification.

The idea

Make the connector smaller

Everything about a power strip is dictated by the size of the connector inside it. Shrink that, and the whole object can change shape. Two inventions came out of that work — the module system itself, and the spring pretension that holds each connection tight.

2021

ÅSKVÄDER launches at IKEA

The system reached the shelves under IKEA's name. It stayed there for two and a half years and sold 1.2 million units across the Nordics on word of mouth alone.

2025

Moduel goes direct

The same product, under our own name, sold straight from us at moduel.com — including all the modules a retail range never had room for, and shipped across Europe.

Now

Power that reports back

Matter control across the whole chain, and energy monitoring so a household can see what is actually drawing power rather than guessing at it.

How people use it

Power where the room needs it

A bedside table, a desk, behind a television, under a kitchen counter. Every room has two or three places where power should be and is not, and one place where six cords meet in a heap.

A chain of modules solves both. Put an outlet exactly where you need one, run the cord along the skirting instead of across the floor, and add another module the day you buy something new.

Where we're going

Power should be something you design, not something you hide.

The next step is making the system aware of itself. Matter control across every module, energy monitoring at the outlet, and a gateway that lets a home see and shape its own consumption rather than reading it off a bill three months later.

The physical system is finished and proven. What we are building now is the intelligence on top of it.
